Geovany Soto and Evan Longoria named Rookies of the Year

Geovany Soto, who led his team to the NL Central title and the playoffs, was named the National League Rookie of the Year. He received 31 of the 32 first-place votes. Soto hit .285 with 23 homers, 35 doubles and 86 RBI.

Evan Longoria was voted unanimously to be named the American League Rookie of the Year Award. Longoria led the Tampa Bay Rays to the World Series. He received all the first-place votes. Longoria batted .272 with 27 homers and 85 RBI.
