Yulieski Gourriel speaks to media after Olympics debacle

Yulieski Gourriel finally spoke to the media after the Olympics and granted Elsa Ramos Ramirez of Sancti Spiritus' Escambray newspaper an interview. In a detailed interview he said that it is clearly the worst thing that has happened to him in his career and he even comtemplated walking away from the game. He felt bad for not being able to come through in the clutch in what might be the last Olympics for awhile. He felt bad for what his family went through because of him. Gourriel mentioned that many former stars encouraged and told him it was just part of the game.
He is aware that he has to play well in the upcoming National Series and knows that many fans have it etched in their minds, but that there have been friends from all over who have encouraged him. He is prepared to work doubly hard in order to have a great season and slowly forget about this.

Here's to wishing him his best season ever and hope he can grace us with his great play in the upcoming World Baseball Classic.
