Adiel Palma retires from Cuban baseball

Adiel Palma who played for Cienfuegos for 21 seasons decided to call it a career shortly after getting silver in Beijing. He won 139 games and struck out 1,1816 batters with his provincial team. He has won titles in the Central American Games, Pan American Games, Intercontinental Cup, World Cup and in the Olympics. He also formed part of the silver medalist World Baseball Classic team.

Injuries have haunted him over the years and he was even affected in the 2006 World Baseball Classic when he felt the pain in the championship game. He tried to return to his team after the Olympics, but the lingering injury forced him to retire. He leaves atop of his game and he will surely be missed by his fans.
