Cuban League kicks off SN 48

The Cuban league began its season Saturday November 29th and one of the matchups was between the two teams who participated in the championship. Pinar del Rio pummeled the champion Santiago de Cuba, 12-3.

Alexei Bell, last year's Homerun and RBI leader, was hit in the face and had to leave the game. It is unknown how long he will be out. WBC participant Yuniesky Maya got the win.

The league will go on hiatus on February 8, 2009 in preparation for next year's WBC and will reconvene on March 27th.
